About Dr. Kizanne James-McCarthy

Physician. Public Health Strategist. Internationally Recognized Leadership and Development Consultant.

Dr. James-McCarthy is a proud Trinidadian woman who continues to make remarkable impact globally while remaining deeply committed to giving back to the Caribbean and to women and girls within our region.

She has worked across four continents, led complex multicultural teams, and currently leads her own UK-based consultancy, Health Equity Solutions. She is also the first Black person to be recruited into the NHS Scotland Management Programme in its more than 50-year history.

Her journey and leadership have been recognized globally through numerous awards and fellowships, including:

  • Selected as one of 120 Global Family Planning Champions under 40 by Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and Johns Hopkins University

  • Chevening Scholar

  • Rising Star Award – University of Southampton

  • Outstanding Leadership Award – The University of the West Indies

  • Outstanding Young Alum Award – University of the Southern Caribbean

She has also received full scholarships and executive training opportunities through Johns Hopkins University, the University of Oslo, and the University of Manchester in areas spanning strategic leadership, global health, and international community health.

Now, she is coming home to pour into women here in Trinidad and Tobago through an intimate half-day leadership intensive designed for ambitious and professional women navigating leadership, influence, purpose, and growth. This session is intended to provide practical tools to help women better understand themselves, navigate spaces intentionally, and lead with clarity and confidence.

Participants will leave with:

  • A personal alignment map

  • A room-reading toolkit

  • An influence playbook for navigating difficult spaces and relationships

Dr. James-McCarthy has worked across four continents, within the NHS, and spoken on global platforms at Ivy League universities and attending United Nations meetings She brings lived experience as a dark-skinned Afro-Trinidadian woman who succeeded without a roadmap, social capital, or inherited privilege into frameworks grounded in over a decade of evidence based practice.

“I know what it’s like to confidently navigate global and complex environments against the odds. I also know what it’s like to feel lost, like an imposter, and like I’m failing at life. The lessons I’ll take you through are not only grounded in evidence but on my lived experience. I know they work because they have helped me and my clients thrive and stay in our element.”

What You’ll Leave The Workshop With

You’re Still Asking Yourself - “Is This For Me?” Let’s Help You Break It Down

Do any of these scenarios ring true to you? If yes, then join us!

  • You are accomplished but still second-guess yourself in certain rooms

  • You know what you want but struggle to articulate it with authority

  • You're tired of adapting who you are to fit where you are

  • You want a practical toolkit not another motivational talk

  • You're ready to do the real work, in a room full of women who are too.

What We’ll Cover

SELF-UNDERSTANDING
Self-discovery as strategy. We map who you are, your confidence, your values, your natural positioning not who you've been told to be. Built on Bandura's Social Cognitive Theory: confidence is not a personality trait. It is a skill you can deliberately grow.

POSITIONING & PRESENCE
How you position yourself changes everything in a meeting, a pitch, a conversation. Learn to read environments quickly, align with them strategically, and show up with full presence and clarity. We decode the thinking patterns that shape every room you enter.

GOALS & SELF-MANAGEMENT
Align what you want with how you live and work. We build your personal alignment map bridging the gap between aspiration and daily action through self-management that feels sustainable, not punishing.

INFLUENCE & RELATIONSHIPS
Influence without manipulation. Navigate challenging personalities. Build trust across difference. Learn exactly how to show up for hard conversations, read room dynamics, and make your voice the one that moves things forward.

Proceeds from this workshop will support Girls With Roots, a Caribbean NGO working to improve the lives of girls across the region.
